Frequently asked questions
- Why does the app ask for my location?
- To show the forecast and radar for where you are. Location access is optional; you can add locations by name or postal code instead. See the privacy policy for what leaves your device.
- Why does the app ask for calendar access?
- Only if you turn on calendar plans. The app then creates and updates its own events in the calendar you choose. It never reads or uploads your other events, and calendar data never leaves the device.
- Where does the weather data come from?
- Forecasts and alerts for the United States come from NOAA and the National Weather Service. Radar is processed on Geosmin's own servers from NOAA radar feeds.
- Do I need an account?
- No. The app has no account or sign-in.
- How do I delete my data?
- The app keeps your saved places and settings on your device only, and uninstalling it removes them. We hold no account or profile for you. See the privacy policy for the server logs we do keep, or email [email protected].
- The radar looks old or is missing.
- The app only animates radar frames it can verify as current. If the radar source is delayed, the timeline shows the last frame it trusts rather than guessing. Pull down to refresh, or check back in a few minutes.
